VTG is a company in Warszawa, Poland that specializes in modifying and tuning vehicles for performance. They also have a race team that competes in drifting, time attack, and drag racing events. In 2005 VTG started a to build a car that would be a serious threat in drag racing.
They started with a third-generation Corvette with a 5.4 L small-block V8. The factory engine produced around 345 horsepower (350 KM) and reached 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) in 6.8 seconds. VTG needed a lot more power to reach the goals they wanted.
The Corvette’s new engine started with a 5.7 L Gen2 LT1 V8. Displacement was increased to 6.2 liters. Other modifications included JE forged pistons, Manley forged rods, Brodix 18x series heads, and a huge Turbonetics T-106 turbocharger. To make up for the turbo lag, the engine also runs a wet nitrous system good for another 200 horsepower. This combo is good for 1,973 horsepower (2,000 KM) but is kept at a more reliable 1,628 horsepower (1,560 KM).
To get as much of the power to the ground as possible, the Corvette uses an AWD system from a GMC Typhoon. VTG built custom axles and shafts for the system and backs it up with a three-speed Rossler TH400 automatic transmission. The front suspension is also sourced from the GMC Typhoon while the back is a 4-link setup.
That level of power going through all four wheels will result in some great stats. The Corvette can reach 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) in 1.4 seconds, 0-200 kph (0-124 mph) in 4.4 seconds, 0-300 kph (0-186 mph) in 8.3 seconds, and a quarter-mile best of 7.79 seconds.
