Subaru BRZ with a 2JZ inline-six

This Subaru BRZ race car is called BRZERK and was built to compete in track events such as World Time Attack Challenge. The car was previously powered by a turbocharged 2.0 L FA20 boxer engine but after reliability issues the owner decided to switch to a 3.0 L 2JZ inline-six he had lying around the shop. The engine will be backed by a Samsonas six-speed sequential transmission.

To give you some comparison on performance the BRZ has a longer wheelbase (101.2″) than a Mk4 Supra (100.4″) and the track is close. The Mk4 Supra Turbo weighs around 3,461 lb and the BRZ weighs around 2,835 lb with this race prepped BRZ around 2,425 lb.

The 2JZ weighs 425 lb while the FA20 weighs 379 lb. Each motor was weighed with intake/exhaust manifolds, turbos, dumps, and all accessories except AC. The owner has started a Facebook page to document the build.
