Lamborghini Jalpa with a Twin-turbo LS1

Lamborghini Jalpa with a Twin-turbo LS1

We wrote about Nick Bolonis’ Lamborghini Jalpa two years ago. Nick swapped out the factory 3.5 L V8 for a Magnuson supercharged LS1 which was good enough for a 9.7 sec at 137 mph quarter-mile. Since then the engine has been increased to 383 ci stroker and the supercharger has been removed for two Garrett GT35 turbochargers from a Ford XR6. The combo makes 690 horsepower to the rear wheels on 14.5 psi of boost and 98 octane fuel. The reason for the change was the supercharger’s instant power delivery was putting too much strain on the custom Toyota Camry transaxle. The turbocharging system allows power deliver to be easily dialed in and comes on much more progressively. Watch as Nick takes the Lambo out for its first run.
