This project started in 2013 when the 3.8 L Lambda V6 in this 2007 Kia Sorento destroyed itself. The owner Craig Gibson took the bad situation as an opportunity to make more power and build something unique. After looking through several engine choices the owner decided on the high power-to-price iron block 6.0 L LY6 sourced from a 2009 Silverado. The engine was upgraded with a LS3 intake, 90 mm throttle body, and LS2 GTO exhaust headers. Craig paired the V8 with a 6L90E six-speed automatic transmisssion. Behind that is a Jeep NP231 transfer case using an adapter plate by Advance Adapters.
