Toyota Starlet with a 2JZ Inline-Six

Toyota Starlet 70 series with a turbo 2JZ

We are sure somewhere in the world there is another FWD vehicle powered by a 2JZ but we haven’t seen one. This wild Toyota Starlet 70 Series is owned by Danish drag racer Jakob Hansen and is powered by a transverse turbocharged 2JZ inline-six. The length of the engine clearly required a custom tube chassis in the front and huge fenders to cover the wide track. No word on the power but it has to be north of 600 horsepower considering his previous engine, a turbo 1.6 L 4A-GE produced that much.

This is the Starlet a few years ago running the turbo 4A-GE. This video shows it running a high-10 but Jakob was able to run a 9.987 sec quarter-mile with the 4A-GE.

Update 5/23/2016 – Found a few more photos of the project from Exotic Boost via Crossbred Nation

    1. I’m trying to mount a 2JZ in the back of a 1986 Pontiac Fiero and I was wondering where you got your adapter for your transmission!
      thank you!
