Ken Prather had a strong desire to build a mid-engine hot rod. He found the basis for his project in a 1962 Volkswagen Type-2 Microbus in decent shape for sale. The first thing he did after buying the bus was chop the roof. After that he went to work installing the supercharged 355 ci small-block Chevy V8. Ken saved some money by not using a driveshaft. The TH-350 transmission yoke is connected directly to the Ford 8″ diff. On top of the engine sits a Weiand 6-71 supercharger which helps the engine produce 600 horsepower. The build took four years to complete and has been driven all over the US. Ken drove the bus from his home in Pennsylvania to Bonneville Salt Flats and back.

Are there any pictures or drawings of the swinging subframe suspension system? I would be interested how Ken attached it to VW chasis and what size/gauge of steel he used.
I couldn’t find any. I also tried to search for a build thread but didn’t find one either.
