2010 Camaro with LSA crate engine

This Camaro was built by BR Racing and has the supercharged 6.2L LSA engine currently found in the 2009 Caddilac CTS-V. Rumor has it this could be engine of choice for the 2012 Camaro Z/28. The LSA uses a smaller 1.9L supercharger (LS9 uses a 2.3L) and produces 556 bhp / 551 torque.

LS9 Powered Widebody 1969 Camaro

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

1969 Widebody Camaro with LS9 crate motor swap

When completed this will be one really unique 1969 Camaro. Under the hood will be GM’s supercharged LS9 crate engine and a custom built Viper based T-56 transmission. The frame will consist of an Art Morrison subframe and a custom built rear frame that will be built to handle 1,000 horsepower. A Detroit Speed & Engineering Quadralink rear end will be used to hold the power to the ground. The body will be widened five inches (2.5″ on each side) to accommodate Forgeline 18×10 up front, 19×14 in the rear and six piston Baer brakes all around. As far as I can tell I think this will be the first full widebody 1st Generation Camaro ever. The exhaust will be sent through the frame and out the sides before the rear tires.

Hennessey estimates a 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and a 1/4 mile in 11.3 seconds at 125 mph. If you want one you better jump in line now; they have already sold 11.

Supra Powered 1967 Camaro on Ebay for $150,000

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

EVS Motors has put their 2JZ single turbo Supra engine powered 1967 Camaro on Ebay for a starting price of $150,000. The car is reported to have 1,000 horsepower and has a Pro-touring theme. It will be very interesting to see if this will sell and for what price. No doubt they are serious about the price due the very detailed listing. The photos they attached are some of the nicest I have seen yet.

One Lap Camaro

One Lap Camaro at OPTIMA invitation

The One Lap Camaro is a blend of 1st Generation Chevy Trans Am feel and Pro-Touring modern performance. The car was first bought off eBay in 2005 and as many stories that start this way the car was hiding some serious rust. At one point there was thought of letting nature take full ownership of this car and start over. But a desire to continue with the current body began and it was off to restoration. Just about everything on the body had to be replaced for fixed except the roof and tail panel.

The car uses a Katech modified 427 LS7 engine from a 2008 Z06 and mated it with a Rockland Standard Gear built T-56 transmission. The dyno showed the engine putting out around 600 horsepower and 550 torque. The inner fenders had to be notched to accept the dry sump oiling system required that comes on the Z06.

American Touring Specialties developed the front suspension using their proprietary Chicane – LM Front Suspension system. Also used was ATS’s AFX tall spindle which optimized camber, Baer adjustable tie rod ends, ATS spline-tuned sway bar, and power steering box built by Lee Engineering.

The rear suspension was developed by Lateral Dynamics. The system choosen was their 3-link system which is designed for serious driving for first gens. Of course what serious car can do without the bulletproof Ford 9″ rearend. The wheels chosen were HREs on Toyo street legal competition compound R888.
